براساس نظر سازمان بهداشت جهاني (WHO) از طب سوزني مي توان در موارد زير استفاده نمود :
سينوزيت آلرژيک، کنترل دردهاي حاد و مزمن،  اضطراب،  آرتروز،  سندروم کارپال تونل،  تهوع و استفراغ،  اسپاسم مري،  افزايش بيش از حد اسيد معده،  روده تحريک پذير،  سندرومهاي ستون فقرات گردن و کمر،  اسهال،  يبوست،  مسموميتهاي دارويي،  دردهاي قاعدگي،  شانه منجمد،  سردردهاي ميگرني،  سردردهاي تنشي،  سرگيجه (بيماري مه نير)،  وزوز گوش، گرفتگي عضلات،  لرزش

اندامها،  تيک،  سکسکه،  ايلئوس بعد از عمل جراحي،  مشکلات بعد از سکته مغزي،  بي اختياري ادراري،  احتباس ادراري.
World Health Organization (WHO) on Acupuncture
The use of acupuncture has been shown to effectively treat many types of conditions. In 2003 the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) released a report called “Acupuncture: Review and Analysis of Reports on Controlled Clinical Trials.” Below you will see a list of the conditions mentioned in that report.
Please note that there are plenty of additional conditions which centuries of empirical data have shown acupuncture treats effectively but for which there is little or no modern western research.
